It was rumored about a year ago that the Max Casino at the Westin Las Vegas had closed. They remained open and at that time only removed the bar video poker games.

I had planned to review the casino and update their slot club information.

Unfortunately, now the rumor becomes true and my column has turned a different direction.

The Westin did not renew a lease agreement with the management company operating Max Casino and it will close June 30.

It is unclear what will become of the current casino space but there is talk of a new restaurant, lounge and bar area.

It is doubtful another casino will operate in its place.

The Max Casino name was taken from its popular past, as it was once known years ago as the Maxim Hotel & Casino.

So, we still have a few more days to take a look around, try a few slots, collect a slot club card or table games chips as memorabilia and say goodbye to yet another casino Las Vegas has lost along the way.

If you’re a Max Rewards club member, check out any comps or free play you may have earned before it expires.

Any earned comp dollars you may have can be redeemed at the hotel, restaurant, gift shop, spa and salon or Starbucks.

The casino has about 200 slot games and seven table games including craps, blackjack and roulette, but no telling if they will all remain open until the last day.

You’ll also find a William Hill race and sportsbook on the property, including a self-service wagering terminal.
